Spruce Things Up

We have all seen the shows where a decorator goes into a home, does some cleaning and sprucing up, and turns that into an amazing offer on that home. Well, don't we all want those sorts of results when we're selling our Vancouver, Washington or Mississauga, Ontario homes? So, how do you know beyond regular cleaning what to do to make your home go from drab to gorgeous? Here are some tips that should help get you started.

The first thing you want to do when getting your home ready for sale is get out the moving boxes. Start eliminating all of the extra clutter from your home. You may see all of those trinkets and photos as a reminder of a great life in your home, but buyers will likely be turned off by all that stuff. You want that house for sale in Scarborough to look as neutral as possible, so that it can appeal to a wide range of buyers can picture themselves living there. Throw out anything that's not coming with you to your new home or give it away. You should consider renting a storage unit for whatever remains.

Don't leave your home too bare. People like to see the home with furniture and some small details in it so that they can gauge the size and design of each of the rooms. You want at least 2-3 pieces of furniture left in each room and some small ornaments to make the space still appear homey. This could mean leaving up some wall words in your family space or putting some flowers out in the kitchen.

Reach for the paintbrush instead of the hammer. Many people have the urge to renovate their home to increase its value or make it more appealing to buyers. This rarely works. Construction costs are usually more than the additional home value and buyers sometimes want the option of doing their own renovations after they move in. IF your Toronto real estate for sale isn't standing out from its counterparts in the neighborhood, consider giving some rooms a paint job. This will make them look fresh and new without any major effort or money on your part. A little paint can really go a long way.

The last tip is to not neglect the outside of your home. People won't come in to see your great modern glass vanity and stellar kitchen if they don't like what they see on the outside. Paint the front door or garage and make sure that your landscaping showcases your home well.
